چکیده
Climate services have climbed high on the agenda of EU research policy, yet few contributions reflected actual usability climate from perspectives intended users, let alone implications for future and innovation policy. This commentary reflects four key lessons learnt engagement in projects discusses policy: i) all end-users pre-established decision-making processes tools their purposes, hence new information needs to be adapted ii) one size fits none – tailoring takes time iii) building trust between different actors, confidence is process resource-demanding iv) purveyors intermediaries can facilitate but need finance activities until demonstrate willingness pay and/or service readily implemented. The main argument that more attention paid demand-side help viable make it through “valley death” is, twilight zone technical invention (commercially) successful innovation. Research Innovation (R&I) funding streams policies establishing truly transdisciplinary learning loops driven by (actual) user function as vehicles valley death.
